Everyone is a volunteer at Wikimania!

Thanks for attending Wikimania and for contributing to make the event successful. We strongly appreciate your contribution in volunteering in the committees, in providing your feedback, in supporting the logistics, the programme and the organization, and of course we strongly appreciate your contribution in the Wikimedia projects and open knowledge during and beyond Wikimania.

Unfortunately we are incapable of supporting all volunteers contributing to Wikimania in their different capacities. What we did was to reduce as much as possible the registration costs (just to cover the personal expenses) and to create some kind of support and acknowledgement we can provide to a limited number of people.

• Attribution. We mention in this website volunteers who have contributed around 20 hours before and/or during the event.
• Intern. We provide to a group of school students involved in Wikimania with an agreement with their schools and supporting us in managing coffeefbreaks, meals, conference venues and on-site registration tasks: simple registration with t-shirt, transport Varenna-Esino Lario and the volunteer picnic.
• Organizers. We provide volunteers who have contributed before the event to organize Wikimania with around 100 hours: 5 days full registration with accommodation. We can not provide transport (except Varenna-Esino Lario).
• Esino volunteers. We provide volunteers already based in Esino Lario with simple registration including the t-shirt and the volunteer picnic.
• Volunteers. We can provide a selection of volunteers at Wikimania (please complete the online form if you would like to apply): simple registration including the t-shirt and the volunteer picnic. We can not provide accommodation, meals and transport (except Varenna-Esino Lario).

When	Guidelines for volunteers with Wikimania assignements
General	Transport. Please find busses on the Varenna-Esino schedule. Please note that two busses have been arranged from Lecco Railway Station to Esino in the morning at 7.00am and they come back from Esino to Lecco Railway Station at 18.15; these busses need to be booked in advanced and they are meant for the volunteers only. T-shirt. Please wear your Wikimania t-shirt and the red or green Badge. Please always wear your badge (also to use the bus) as soon as you receive it.
At your arrival	Please report to the Registration Area in Piazza Italia in the morning by 8.30 to collect your lunch ticket and check your assignment.
During shift	Please make turns to leave your duty and to go for lunch or dinner. Make sure someone else is there and in charge. Volunteers in the Registration Area, please refer to Marta Pigazzini. Volunteers in the rooms
Before leaving	Please remember to Never leave a room without any volunteers in it. Nor a room dirty or messy. Always check the equipment and sign the room's book. Even if your are not in charge of a room, always check if someone is there.
