Deadlines

Does the submission deadline of 17th January apply only to the main track, or also to the other options given under Guidelines. I.E. "If you want to present a project you can make a poster", "We call these presentations “user digest” and they will be at Wikimania, but are directly assigned", "Please contact the relevant team if you want to suggest a discussion".

Since the deadline is coming up, I will also send this by email.

Thanks. Mattflaschen-WMF (talk) 01:46, 15 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, the deadline applies only to the "Critical Issues" presentations, the calls for posters, meetups and discussions are not opened yet. --Atropine (talk) 09:30, 15 January 2016 (UTC)Reply
--Atropine (talk) 14:57, 19 January 2016 (UTC)Reply

Return journey

Hi, I am a scholarship recipient from India. I was filling up the travel details form and got stuck in the return journey section. The following line is written in the form - Return Journey; you will be departing from Milan on 27th June, Travelling to which city/airport? Now, I and Satdeep Gill, another scholarship recipient from India, are planing to travel few cities of Italy for next few days after the conference and want to catch the return flight from Rome on July 8. Now, it seems that there is no option for us in the form to plan for the travel. Can you please help us regarding this matter. Thanks in advance. -- Bodhisattwa (talk) 14:08, 14 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, you should contact someone from the scholarship committee about this, I'm only working on the programme :) --Atropine (talk) 14:46, 14 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

How to submit a presentation

Hi!

On behalf of Wikimedia Argentina we would like to submit 3 presentations for Wikimania 2016, but we can't find the way. Can you please give us a hand?

Thanks--Anna Torres (WMAR) (talk) 17:38, 29 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

I just replied to your email :) --Atropine (talk) 17:41, 29 March 2016 (UTC)Reply

Accepted submissions for discussion and poster sessions at Wikimania 2016

Hello, I'm wondering for Wikimania proposed discussions and also for posters, if there is a date for when authors will be notified of acceptance, or if all are already accepted? Thanks!

Hi, the poster will likely all be accepted, and there is a team working on the discussions. I will ask the team to update the page with some information about the notification dates. --Atropine (talk) 16:50, 29 April 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Atropine:, if we haven't hear back about posters for Wikimania 2016, should we just assume that we are accepted? Should we bring printed posters or will they be printed at the conference? Thanks!

Yes, they are and the organization is taking care of printing them. Cheers. --Atropine (talk) 09:10, 14 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Accepted submissions for Discussions and Training Sessions

We have proposed a discussion and a training session for Wikimania 2016, but we do not know if they are accepted. Could you please let us know how to find this information and when it will be available?

Thanks a lot. Senrof21 (talk) 21:07, 14 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

Hi, I sent an email one month ago to your co-presenter, maybe he did not receive it? Anyway your workshop proposal did not make it, and about the discussions the team is finalizing the schedule in these days, so you whould know something soon. --Atropine (talk) 08:09, 15 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks @Atropine:, We received the email, but we believed that it was for this proposal: Training_sessions/Proposals/Understanding_and_Boosting_Communities and not this Training_sessions/Proposals/Building_decentralized_collaborative_apps._SwellRT. Can you please confirm us that both trainings are not accepted? Senrof21 (talk) 15:38, 17 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Senrof21: I am very sorry, but we did not see the first proposal (Understanding and Boosting Communities), because it was not in the list on the Training sessions page. In fact we contacted you about the other training (Building decentralized collaborative apps). This is particularly unfortunate because while the app proposal was perhaps a little bit too specific, the other one seems quite fitting, and it could be interesting to have it in the main conference! I will talk with the rest of the committe and see if we can do something. --Atropine (talk) 15:44, 18 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Atropine:, thanks for your reply and your understanding. We included the proposal in the list of Training sessions, as you can see in the history: https://wikimania2016.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Training_sessions&diff=prev&oldid=29820. Unfortunately, the next change removed it. We are looking forward for your answer. Thanks, Senrof21 (talk) 08:53, 19 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Atropine:, Is there any news regarding this or an expected date to be resolved? thanks! Senrof21 (talk) 07:28, 28 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Senrof21: We are waiting for the last confirmation, but so far everyone confirmed and I am afraid we won't have a slot in the main conference. Would you be interested in hosting the training in the preconference? --Atropine (talk) 12:36, 28 May 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Atropine:, thanks for the invitation to the preconference. We are waiting for the response to our discussion proposal referenced in the first message of this topic, which was erased by this mysterious change: https://wikimania2016.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Discussions&diff=33136&oldid=33135. If the discussion is accepted, we will be glad to present the training in the preconference. Senrof21 (talk) 16:50, 30 May 2016 (UTC)Reply

@Atropine:, any news regarding discussions acceptance/rejection? Senrof21 (talk) 08:58, 6 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
@Senrof21: Discussions have their own team, you can find their names in the discussions page. I'd suggest to ask them, since I am not directly involved in the process and I am also waiting to hear from them. --Atropine (talk) 09:11, 6 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Thanks Atropine, I have started a topic at Talk:Discussions/Submissions to know about our proposal. Senrof21 (talk) 09:29, 6 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

Might I be able to borrow a computer for my presentation?

I'm presenting Saturday afternoon, but it does not seem that I will have a laptop to bring with me. If it could be arranged for me to use a laptop or other platform for the 1/2 hour of my presentation, that would be most appreciated. Cheers! BD2412 (talk) 19:22, 13 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

@BD2412: We will find a laptop for you, in fact probably every room will have its own laptop. Please save your presentation also in pdf so we won't have compatibility issues. See you in Esino! --Atropine (talk) 09:09, 14 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
Excellent - see you there! BD2412 (talk) 12:18, 14 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
As for compatibility, that won't be an issue. I'm putting the whole thing on the Wikimedia Commons (at Commons:User:BD2412/Wikimania 2016 presentation), and will present from there. BD2412 (talk) 04:52, 18 June 2016 (UTC)Reply

I won't be able to make the opening session this morning but would like to watch. On the Programme page, it says "Live streaming of events held in the Gym Palace." Where do i find the link for that please? Thanks! JMatazzoni (WMF) (talk) 07:39, 24 June 2016 (UTC)Reply
