Key-signing party at Wikimania
There have been the proposal to include a key-signing party at Wikimania. Here the page Programme/Key-signing party. --iopensa (talk) 18:25, 4 January 2016 (UTC)
Request for volunteer meetup space during the preconference
I made a request for volunteer meetup space reservations during the preconference at Talk:Submissions. I am commenting here to repeat that request.
There are groups of volunteers who only meetup at Wikimania and need some time and space during the preconference to have meetings. Does anyone have advice for making a room and timeslot request for a volunteer group to get on the preconference schedule? Thanks. Bluerasberry (talk) 15:12, 7 January 2016 (UTC)

What's the "edit button" session on June 25th about? --Elitre (WMF) (talk) 12:24, 19 January 2016 (UTC)
Kiwix hackathon
There have been a request to host a kiwix-dedicated hackathon in Esino Lario just before Wikimania. Here the description page Programme/Kiwix-dedicated Hackathon. --iopensa (talk) 12:35, 26 January 2016 (UTC)
GLAM session with Touring
I was told by WMIT persons that, in the table for "Pre-conference Thursday 23 June 2016", one of the three cells of the 14:00 – 16:30 period, presumably in the "Varenna" column, should contain a reference to "GLAM Wikimedia Italia event with Archivio Touring, museums and other institutions" which was approved by the relevant Programme people. I don't see a way to insert individual events in the table, can the appropriate person handle the request? Thanks, Federico Leva (WMIT) (talk) 12:21, 4 February 2016 (UTC)
- There are pages for each day such as Programme/Sunday. You can modify the programme there. --iopensa (talk) 16:24, 24 February 2016 (UTC)
App?
I just came across this article and thought it might be of help if someone is thinking of an app this year: Connfa: An open source mobile app for conferences and events. Ainali (talk) 22:26, 22 February 2016 (UTC)
- Please check out 32C3 (CCC)'s app for their event in December. A great app they had during their conference. If someone could create on for this event, I could maybe get a grasp on where I should attend. :) Josve05a (talk) 02:29, 13 March 2016 (UTC)
- I would guess that these are the mentioned Android and iOS apps. Niedzielski (talk) 13:47, 25 June 2016 (UTC)
Pre and post-conference
Hey. Is anything planned for 21st, 27th, and 28th? Hackathons? Excursions? I noticed that these dates are mentioned on the Programme page without anything mentioned under them. It would be helpful if someone could add a simple comment there on any tentative plans for those days, as folks (like me) may wonder if they should extend the stay to cover those days as well. Cheers, Rehman 10:18, 12 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Rehman, no. 21st is the day of the arrivals and 27th and 28th are departures (but for the 27th there are going to be meeting rooms available). The 27th we are planning transport to Milan. There is also planned a soft program of visits in Milan and Como before the event but the details are not yet online. --iopensa (talk) 13:25, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hello Iopensa, thanks for the reply. It would be really great if more details can be published soon, because many participants will have to book flights sooner (particularly scholarship recipients), and pre-or-post conference events like these will be missed if published late... For example, I initially planned to arrive on the 21th afternoon, before knowing about the WTLC (Wikimania Takes Lake Como). Hope to hear more about it soon. Quite excited that this formatted around the Wikimania Takes Manhattan model, which was a truly marvellous event. User:Pharos did a fantastic job in 2012 for the Manhattan event. Rehman 13:44, 15 March 2016 (UTC)
- Hi Rehman, Ilenia is working on this and she informed me she should be ready with some documentation in few days. In general consider that the plan is to stay in an hostel in Milan (Ostello Bello grande is the place we suggest) and have some visits together to the city and to Como (which is around 1 hour from Milan). The 23rd is the departing date from Como to Esino Lario; you'll stay 4 nights in Esino. --iopensa (talk) 16:44, 19 March 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks Iopensa and Ilenia. Also, will there be a separate group arranged from Esino Lario as well (to join the crowd in Milan via train maybe)? I ask this because there may be more people who has/will be booking extended stays in Esino Lario itself. Scholarship participants will also have 6 nights already covered (21st night - 26th night) at Esino. Maybe we could have some sort of signup page (like WTM) and also request for lodging information, so that there's a better idea on the crowd...? P.s. I've sent you an email yesterday, with regards to when I should be booking my arrival flight in order to cover WTLC. Feel free to respond here if you like. Best regards, Rehman 01:16, 20 March 2016 (UTC)

Bookcrossing
Hey, not sure where to put this, so I'll leave this here. Together with The Wikipedia Library, we were thinking about a en:BookCrossing table/corner, to share books brought by community members with other community members, so that they can be used to improve references on Wikipedia or to add other content to sister projects. We don't have more details as we just came up with this idea at the Wikimedia Conference, and anyway this is not something that requires much organization or coordination - we'll communicate about this more once it becomes a bit more than a random idea. I'll also talk about this with iopensa ASAP but in the meanwhile please consider this as an initial request for space. Thanks, User:Elitre --194.115.26.9 10:22, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- Sure. Sounds nice. Maybe we can locate a shelf (we have some tall metallic shelves, or we can use some furniture from the old museum) in the primary school (where there is a 24/24 open room, the hackathon in the pre-conference and the discussions during the conference) or at the community village. Please make a page on this website and let us know what you need and which kind of space. --iopensa (talk) 14:25, 23 April 2016 (UTC)
- Can I get some feedback about my proposal please. TY! cc. iopensa, --Elitre (talk) 08:34, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
Tuesday 21st?
There's nothing yet on the Programme about the first Tuesday. Tuesday night is the first night of accommodation (for those staying 6 nights), so I assume that means dinner will be provided? But perhaps not lunch? Is there anything else planned for that day? Thanks. Sam Wilson 11:04, 25 May 2016 (UTC)
- Dinner is planned (with the 5 days registration you will get a ticket) and the tensile structure will be installed and functioning. We'll update the programme as soon as we have new events planned. --iopensa (talk) 06:59, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
Wikimedia User Group
I'm from Vietnam, most contribution in Vietnamese Wikipedia version. I would like contact other wikimedia user groups/chapters and person incharge of this aspect from WFM to learn and share their experienment how to establish (country's law). I don't know how to contact them, please help me the right place to post request. Thank in advance.--Cheers! (talk) 04:55, 26 May 2016 (UTC)
- Hey Cheers!, you need to see m:Wikimedia_user_groups and m:Wikimedia movement affiliates. Best, --Elitre (talk) 08:40, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
- Thanks, I wil meet them face to face in this Wikimania 2016.--Cheers! (talk) 08:54, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
Map?
Is there a map where the spaces are? I think that belongs to the basic informations but I cannot find it. --Micha (talk) 05:51, 31 May 2016 (UTC)
Sport in Esino
- My understanding is there is no swimming facility in Esino or nearby, correct?
- Can one rent a mountain bike there? Where? --Elitre (talk) 08:59, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
None of the above. If you look at wikivoyage though there are quite some sports you can do in Esino. --iopensa (talk) 23:31, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
Social media/contacts
Relevant info should be on the homepage. Social media handles, official hashtag (which AFAIK is #wikimania, although I think the t-shirt says something different), emergency contacts. --Elitre (talk) 09:18, 16 June 2016 (UTC)
How to read time in the programme table?
How do you read the programme table for blocks like Friday 24th, 14:00 - 15:30 at the Theatre? The three slots don't align with either of the time columns (far left and far right). For example, when does Lessons learned building machine learning models for Wikidata begin? /Sebastian Berlin (WMSE) (talk) 07:23, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
- The three slots last 30 minutes each (~20 minutes for the presentation, ~10 minutes for the questions). So, in your example, they're starting at 14.00, 14.30 and 15.00 respectively. We'll make all efforts to be very sharp with this schedule; however, we didn't make three rows in the table because participants should not come and go between single talks. There's no pause between single talks and each group of three is about a definite topic, so, for reasons both of conveniency and of content, attendees are encouraged (for example) to stay in the Theatre from 14.00 to 15.30.
- I hope this was helpful! Let us know if you need more information. :) --MLWatts (talk) 19:28, 17 June 2016 (UTC)
hackathon time
Main schedule now differs from printed and hackathon one about starting time on Wednesdsay. Didn't check the app though. 62.18.24.159 23:32, 21 June 2016 (UTC)
