Reach Esino Lario by plane
The most convenient airports to plan your trip to Esino Lario are Milano Malpensa (MXP), Milano Linate (LIN) and Milano-Bergamo Orio al Serio (BGY). The Lufthansa Group Partners (Austrian, Brussels Airlines, Eurowings, Lufthansa and SWISS) is providing Discounted Airfares and Conditions; discount code is provided via eventbrite during registration process. There are quite a few low cost flights in particular from Italy and Europe.
Details
During Wikimania Esino Lario a direct bus service between the airports and Esino Lario is organized. Direct buses from the airports take the Valsassina road and carry up to 50 people each. Other options to reach Esino Lario from the airports are public transport (buses and trains) and car rental.
General information

At each airport, please look first for the volunteers (below instructions). The bus in Malpensa is parked in an internal parking and it will reach the parking area only at departure time. The volunteers will collect data to start the procedure for the registration and to inform the apartments' owners that you are arriving.

Information
The busses leave from Piazza Bertarini. One hour prior to departure the bus picks up travelers in Ortanella, Bigallo and Villa Rogo.
The bus company asked us to calculate 3 hours for busses to go from Esino Lario to Malpensa.

How to reach Esino Lario with public transport
- From Milano Malpensa Terminal 1 to Milano Centrale, either:
- by train:
- between 05:43 AM and 09:43 PM: departing every half an hour – 52 minutes travel – €12 one-way
- late arrivals: direct connection not always available. Please verify alternatives on Trenord timetable.
- by bus:
- between 05:00 AM and 01:20 AM: service available from 3 different companies with several, up to 9 per hour, departures – 50 minutes travel – €8 one-way, €14 return ticket
- late arrivals: please verify alternatives on airport website.
- by train:
- From Milano Centrale to Varenna-Esino by Trenord train (1 hour, trains every hour 20 minutes after the hour, €6.70).
- From Varenna-Esino to Esino Lario by bus (40 minutes, €2.40).
Internet at Malpensa terminal 1
You can access wifi internet at Malpensa airport terminal 1 using ViaMilano. If you do not register it is pretty slow (free); if you register using namelastname address and email, it goes faster (plus free).

- by train:
- use the free-of-charge airport shuttle to reach MXP Terminal 1 and then follow instructions above
- by bus
- bus departing from MXP Terminal 1 to Milano Centrale also stops in Terminal 2 about ten minutes later; once in Milano Centrale, follow above instructions of MXP Terminal 1 from point 2 ahead
- by train:

How to reach Esino Lario with public transport
- From Milano Linate to Milano Centrale by bus (25 minutes, buses every 30 minutes, €5 one-way, €9 two ways ticket); once in Milano Centrale, please follow above instructions of MXP Terminal 1 from point 2 ahead

How to reach Esino Lario with public transport
- ATB bus from the airport to Bergamo railway station (10 minutes, €2.30)
- From Bergamo to Varenna-Esino by train – change in Lecco (Bergamo–Lecco 40 minutes, trains every hour; Lecco–Varenna-Esino, 21 or 37 minutes; trains every hour; total cost of the ticket €5.50).
- From Varenna-Esino to Esino by bus (40 minutes, €2.40).
